A Sweet Spring Tradition
My Children’s Favorite Session
There’s something about bunny sessions that just feels like Spring. Soft colors, tiny noses twitching, little giggles and for our family, it’s become one of the most anticipated traditions of the year.
These are my children’s absolute favorite sessions we offer, and if you’re looking for bunny sessions with a luxury children’s photographer in San Antonio or the surrounding Texas Hill Country (Bulverde, Spring Branch, Boerne, Blanco, Dripping Springs, and Austin), this experience is truly something special.
Every year, without fail, my kids fall completely in love with the bunnies… and every year they ask if we can take one home. And every year, I remind them we already have a full house of four cats, two dogs, a bearded dragon, and two tree frogs. Plus four children. So for now, the bunny love stays right here in the studio.
A Safe & Thoughtfully Curated Bunny Photography Experience
One of the most important parts of our Spring bunny photo sessions is making sure both the children and the animals are safe and comfortable.
That’s why we partner with a trusted petting zoo we’ve worked with for years. Their experience allows us to create a calm, safe environment so your little ones can interact naturally with the bunnies during their children’s bunny session.
We always bring in a variety of bunnies with different sizes, colors, and personalities. Some are tiny and cuddly, others are a little more curious, but all of them add so much charm to your Spring session.
Keeping the Focus on What Matters Most
Our set is intentionally simple. No overwhelming props or distractions, just soft, beautiful styling that keeps the focus where it belongs: on your child and those genuine, fleeting moments.
You can expect:
Soft spring greens
Light blues
Airy pastels
These tones create a timeless look, perfect for Spring family photos you’ll want to display in your home year after year.
What to Wear for Your Bunny Session
One of the most fun parts of planning your bunny session is choosing outfits.
Soft, classic styles photograph beautifully, especially:
Pastels like blush, sage, cream, and baby blue
Light, flowy fabrics
Linen and cotton textures
Laces and tulle
Sweet Peter Rabbit-inspired outfits
For little girls, I also have dresses available in the studio, making it easy to create a polished, cohesive look for your children’s spring portraits.
Designed with Little Ones in Mind
These are 30-minute bunny sessions, created to be short, sweet, and centered around the experience.
For babies, I provide baskets they can safely sit in while interacting with the bunnies, creating some of the most heartfelt and timeless images.
Last year, my own baby was just 7 months old during our bunny sessions, and she absolutely loved them. Watching her curiosity around the bunnies is something I’ll never forget.
This year… we’ll see. Toddlers like to keep us guessing. But I already have her pastel bunny dress picked out and plan on adding the cutest little bunny ears. I’m holding onto the hope that she’ll love them just as much again.
More Than Just Photos
What I love most about these San Antonio bunny sessions is that they’re not just about the images, they’re about the experience.
The curiosity.
The gentle touches.
The laughter.
The quiet, in-between moments.
These are the memories that stay with you.
And one of my favorite things is printing and framing these images, then bringing them out each Spring with the rest of our seasonal décor, such as prints from our bluebonnet sessions in Texas Hill Country. Adding a new set each year alongside the last has become something so meaningful in our home.

Luxury Bluebonnet Family Portraits in San Antonio & the Texas Hill Country
Motherhood, memories, and the portraits I will always make time for.
Our Bluebonnet Tradition
Every spring, when the bluebonnets begin to bloom across Texas, my boys already know what it means.
“Look mom! Bluebonnets.”
And with a mixture of excitement and mild resignation (photographer child syndrome), they know what comes next.
Portraits.
No matter how busy life becomes, how full the calendar gets, or how quickly the weeks pass, I always make time to photograph my own children in the bluebonnets. It has quietly become one of our family traditions, one that marks another year of childhood, another season of motherhood, another moment I never want to forget.
My boys have grown up with this rhythm of the seasons. In fact, they’re so used to it that they truly believe bluebonnets are my favorite flower.
They’re not.
It’s actually sunflowers and hydrangeas.
But bluebonnets have become our thing, the place where I pause each year to hold onto who they are right now.
The Portrait I will Always Treasure
One of my favorite photographs of all time is from one of those spring evenings years ago.
My oldest son was a toddler then, standing in the middle of a bluebonnet field. Beside him was our sweet old family dog, Zorro, the one who followed him everywhere, patiently endured sticky toddler hugs, and watched over our children like a gentle fluffy guardian.
He’s no longer with us now.
But that photograph is.
And every time I see it, I’m reminded why these portraits matter so much.
Children grow.
Dogs grow old.
Life moves forward in ways we can’t slow down.
But photographs allow us to hold onto those moments long after they’ve passed.
Preparing For Bluebonnet Season
Part of the joy of our bluebonnet portraits each year is the quiet preparation beforehand.
I have always loved dressing my children in soft shades of blue and white for bluebonnet sessions. The colors feel timeless and peaceful against the sea of wildflowers.
But other colors photograph beautifully as well.
Soft reds, warm yellows, and gentle lavenders can be stunning in the bluebonnets, adding warmth and contrast while still feeling natural within the landscape.
Every year I spend a little time thinking about what my children will wear, okay, maybe a lot of time, imagining how the colors will pair nicely with each other and how the portraits will look framed on our walls.
This year is no different.
I already have my daughter’s dress picked out, I chose it months ago, knowing it would be perfect for the bluebonnets. The moment I saw it I fell in love with it. At the studio, I’ve been slowly collecting a small selection of beautiful dresses just for little girls who come for bluebonnet portraits, each one chosen because I can picture it perfectly in the bluebonnets.
Of course, the boys are another story.
I still need to take them shopping for boots, and this year I’m especially excited because my little girl will be getting her very first pair to wear with her dress.
It’s funny how these small preparations become part of the memory too.
Why I No Longer Offer Bluebonnet Mini Sessions
For many years, bluebonnet photography has often been offered as quick mini sessions, a line of families, one after another, all photographed in the same place within a few rushed minutes.
And while there is certainly a place for that, over time I realized it wasn’t the experience I wanted to offer.
So I made a decision to step away from mini sessions for bluebonnets entirely.
Instead, I now offer full portrait sessions only.
I wanted to slow things down.
To step away from the rush.
This allows me to truly tailor each session to the family in front of my camera. Rather than photographing many families in one place, I carefully select beautiful bluebonnet fields throughout the Texas Hill Country, locations near Boerne, Spring Branch, Bulverde, Blanco, Dripping Springs, Austin, and San Antonio. Locations I know are truly beautiful, places where the bluebonnets are thriving and the light falls softly across the landscape.
By working with only a few families each season, I can plan each session intentionally, ensuring we photograph during that warm golden hour light, when everything feels peaceful and the portraits become something truly special.
It also means that when you arrive, my focus is completely on your family alone.
There is no waiting line.
No rushing children along.
No pressure to finish quickly.
Just time for your family to settle into the moment, for your children to explore the field, and for me to create portraits that feel both natural and timeless.
Because these portraits are not meant to be rushed.
They are meant to become art.
Why These Portraits Matter So Much To Me
As a mother of four, I feel deeply how quickly childhood passes.
One year they’re toddlers sitting quietly in the flowers, and the next they’re choosing their own poses, taller and louder and somehow older than they were just yesterday.
Photographing my own children every spring is my way of pausing time, even if only for a moment.
And it’s the same reason I photograph other families in the bluebonnets each year.
Because one day, when the house feels quieter and the children are grown, these portraits will still be there.
A reminder of muddy boots.
Tiny hands in yours.
Sunset light over a field of blue.
And the beautiful, fleeting season when your children were still little enough to gather close.
